This proposal requests support to initiate a new 7th grade cohort of the Longitudinal Study of American Youth (LSAY). The new cohort will be linked conceptually and analytically to the 26-year longitudinal record of the LSAY to monitor the educational and career development of a new generation of students and young adults. The LSAY is a core education and human resources research project whose breadth provides a unique opportunity to view the needs of the field and the cumulative impact of NSF and other programs on desired outcomes.
