This project is designed to facilitate the sharing of the data components of the Measures of Effective Teaching (MET), a primary research project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Inter-university Consortium for Social and Political Research (ICPSR), the Survey Research Center (SRC), the School of Education, and the University Libraries formed a partnership to propose that the University of Michigan archive and disseminate the quantitative and video data generated from the MET project, in response to a Gates Foundation request.
The core work proposed includes: Coordinating multiple internal and external partners to achieve project goals; acquiring all the video and quantitative data components from the MET project; processing the quantitative data into standard ICPSR data and documentation files for preservation and dissemination; processing the video files into a condition that can be streamed online and with adequate and searchable metadata; developing a website portal for the project that includes project information, data information, an online restricted use data contracting system, and a secure video streaming feature; develop a virtual data enclave where data users will access and analyze project and their own data; preservation of archive components; and user support.
