This proposal requests support to continue a program of annual data collection from participants in the Longitudinal Study of American Youth (LSAY) to monitor the career development of this cohort of young adults. Funding from the STEP program in 2006 allowed the location of 95% of the original sample and the re-contact of nearly 70% of the original participants who are still eligible for participation.
The first new cycle of data collection in 2007 has yielded important results and the second cycle ? to be conducted in late October, 2008 ? promises further advances in our understanding of career choice, career advancement, and career satisfaction in STEMM careers, STEMM-support careers, and other non- STEMM related careers.
