Over the past two years, with assistance from NSF funds we created CLEA, which stands for Constituency-Level Elections Archive. We have been successful beyond our expectations in gathering and organizing data and in creating a useful website and archive for researchers to use. This proposal extends the project in two areas: 1) solidifying infrastructure for the collection, archiving, and disseminating of constituency-level election data from around the world, and 2) conducting basic research on how the nature of electoral competition in a country shapes the production of public goods.
