We are requesting supplemental funding of $62,339 from NSF for our research on political party systems and constituency-level election results. We received an NSF grant in 2010 to improve and enhance the Constituency-Level Elections Archive (CLEA) and to conduct original research connecting the nature of party systems to the provision of public services. This supplement request concerns new opportunities to make CLEA even a better resource for researchers and the broader community interested in election data (journalists, policy-makers, and the interested public). To meet these new opportunities, we request additional support for hourly graduate students, effort for a web designer and programmer, and additional consultant funds for geocoding the electoral districts in the CLEA database.
