Examined the impact of temporary moods on judgments of satisfaction with life in general and with specific life-domains. It was hypothesized that individuals simplify the complex task of evaluating their life in general by referring to their mood at the time of judgment, but evaluate specific life-domains on the basis of domain-specific information. In Study 1, 55 male Ss (median age 46.5 yrs) were interviewed via telephone after the live broadcast of 2 games of the 1982 Soccer World Championship. In the 2nd study, 22 female language students participated in what was purportedly the development of a visual imagery test. Findings support the hypothesis.
