Leslie Anderson criticized a study undertaken to find out why so many polls mistakenly predicted a Sandinista victory in Nicaragua's 1990 election for several reasons none of which were accurate or fair. The study used capital letters to indicate the choice between the Sandinistas and the opposition UNO, not colors as Anderson maintains. Moreover, the Venezuelan polling group DOXA was not as successful at evading the charge of partisanship as Anderson claims. The true neutrality that she holds up as an ideal was in fact unobtainable in politically polarized Nicaragua.
