This study contrasts data from the 1980 and 1990 censuses, holding metropolitan area boundaries constant to examine changes in Black suburbanization over time. Findings show that during the 1980s, some metropolitan areas saw explosive growth in the number of black suburbanites. Listings of the largest concentrations of Black suburbanites, the fastest growing Black suburbs, and the metropolitan areas with the greatest changes in Black suburban population are presented.
