The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has elected to its membership Conrad Kottak, the Julian H. Steward Collegiate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan.

Yu Xie wins PAA’s 2008 Clifford C Clogg Award. This biennial award recognizes early career achievement in population studies and demography. Ron Lesthaeghe elected 2008 IUSSP Laureate
