Farley on employment prospects for Detroit residents in booming downtown

While Detroit’s downtown has been booming in recent years, other parts of the city are seeing increases in racially concentrated poverty. Reynolds Farley says Detroit’s resurgence will help create jobs for some Detroiters, but most in poor commuting areas like Chandler Park, an impoverished neighborhood 7 miles from downtown, face employment obstacles related to work skills, transportation, and other stigmas of race.
