Professor Hutchings’ general interests include public opinion, elections, voting behavior, and African American politics. Professor Hutchings has also studied how well members of Congress represent the interests of their Black constituents and more recently has explored how much citizens know about the racial wealth gap. Currently, Professor Hutchings is working on an NSF sponsored project involving race and attitudes about policing.
