This project is designed to jump-start convergence on cyberinfrastructure technologies and standards for social science data by developing proofs-of-concept for key elements of the Open Archival Information Sys-tem (OAIS) Reference Model for social science data, produce content models for the FEDORA Digital Repository Architecture, and develop sharable tools that will allow us and others to transform metadata from the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) standard for Social Science into forms that can be ingested into a FEDORA repository. If successful, the products we deliver will be essential elements of a new, modular, open-source, and community-developed technology system for data preservation and access.
