Macarthur Foundation Aging Society Research Project

This proposal will address individual and social, political and economic institutional changes needed to ensure a future environment in which an aging society does not lead to less social and political cohesion, but to more intergenerational solidarity. We are focused on identifying the social and economic conditions and policies that may create an environment in the United States that embraces a changed society of increased longevity; one that has a great proportion of older, mature citizens interacting productively across different age cohorts, through social, political, and economic institutions, and cohesive intergenerational family ties.
