Low dose computed tomography (LDCT) is a procedure recommended as a screening test for adults who have a high risk for lung cancer that has been shown to reduce lung cancer mortality. Sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations may be at higher risk for lung cancer mortality due to a higher risk of cigarette smoking. Understanding rates of LDCT screening eligibility for SGM individuals, SGM-related LDCT screening disparities, and modifiable factors for such disparities can inform efforts to reduce morbidity and mortality caused by cigarette smoking, such as lung cancer and other lung-related conditions.
