Latinos in California Survey

The Latinos in California Survey through the University Washington submitted a Bonus Minute Supplement (up to 30 minutes) to be included in the American National Election Studies (ANES) 2008 Post-Election Survey as part of the new Bonus Minutes program that was announced by ANES in August and September of 2007. The Bonus Minutes program was introduced so that scholars could use the opportunity to enhance their own research agendas while making important contributions to the ANES user community. For the first time, researchers who were formally affiliated with colleges, universities or governmental agencies, could purchase space on the ANES 2008 national post-election survey. By purchasing this space, scholars could guarantee that topics and questions of their choosing were covered in this survey. This study was the newest addition to the ANES time-series that now covers over 50 years of elections. In addition, and thanks to a cooperative agreement with scholars from the University of Washington, post-election interviews were also conducted with a substantial oversample of the Latino population. The Latinos in California Survey targeted an additional 350 Latino voters in the United States with interviews conducted in both Spanish and English. The Latinos in California Survey submitted 30 Bonus Research Questions to be added as a supplement to the 2008 Post-Election Survey. The 30 Bonus Research Questions were added to the Post-Election Survey by the Research Triangle Institute at the request of their client, the University of Michigan. The Bonus Minutes Questions were reviewed and approved by the ANES Board of Overseers, Principal Investigators and Research Triangle Institute. A proper review of the translation was overseen by ANES in conjunction with the scholars from the University of Washington.
