The Center for Advancing Research and Solutions for Society (CARSS) at the University of Michigan is sponsoring a conference to be held Sept 29-30, 2010 in New York City to address improving school readiness in low-income children. The expected outcomes are (1) interrogation and evaluation of representatives of candidate interventions on potential synergy, and (2) movement toward a consolidated intervention design. The ultimate goal is a scalable intervention. In order to achieve such, the overarching objective is the identification and systemic enablement of the active ingredients expected to boost 0-3 year old children’s school readiness (to enter pre-kindergarten with the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development and health necessary for successful learning and age appropriate academic achievement).
