Consultant?s role in DPOE tasks:
Define Education Needs: In Year 1, the consultant drafted the questions for the survey and in Year 2 will assist the DPOE team at the Library of Congress in summarizing, analyzing, promulgating, and using the results.
Review Existing Curricula: In Year 1, a list of relevant training and education initiatives was identified and in Year 2, the consultant will work with team members to complete a gap analysis of existing continuing education programs to identify curriculum areas to be developed using the results of the needs assessment survey.
Define core principles: Based on the analysis of existing curricula and building on established good practice within the digital preservation community that is reflected in the consultant?s Digital Preservation management curriculum, the consultant will convene a group to define core principles that will provide a framework and guideline for future DPOE training events.
Build an instructor base: The consultant will work with the DPOE team to develop and present a train-the-trainer program that will provide the basis for an ongoing DPOE train-the-trainer program to establish a nation-wide base of instructors for DPOE events.
Evaluate delivery options: Based on the needs assessment results and the gap analysis of existing curricula, the consultant will work with the DPOE teams and instruction consultants to consider and recommend optimal delivery options.
Develop outreach materials: Using the results of all of the previous tasks, the consultant will work with the DPOE team at the Library and their marketing experts, the consultant will help develop and promulgate outreach materials for launching and building the DPOE initiative.
Develop calendar of events: The consultant will work with the DPOE tam at the Library to build and maintain a calendar for DPOE events that is as comprehensive as possible and community-oriented.
