Supplemental funding is requested for ANES project for the following activities: (1) exploring the viability of automated audio recording transcription; (2) determining the optimal strategy for creating accurate transcriptions of audio recordings; (3) evaluating the viability of automatic machine coding of audio transcripts; (4) assessing the accuracy of manually coded audio transcriptions; (5) identifying which combination of data collection and coding generates the most accurate data; and (6) analyzing the impact of Field Interviewer deviations on open-ended
data quality.
