This project will investigate if and where public participation in municipal politics exhibits nationalization. To address this question we will (1) propose a theoretical framework for nationalization in municipal spaces, (2) develop a method for discovering indicators of nationalization based on this framework (3) implement machine learning pipelines for collecting and extracting records of public participation and (4) combine our framework, methods, and data to address the question of if and where public participation in municipal politics exhibits nationalization.
