The policy could have a more far-reaching impact, Carceral Project committee members said. University staff could be affected disproportionately by it, Pulitzer-Prize winning author and UM professor Heather Ann Thompson said.¶¶¶“I think it is important to note that the biggest group this impacts is employees of the University of Michigan,” Thompson said. “Every dorm, every building, every space on this campus is filled with University of Michigan employees. You can just be sure that is the community this is going to impact the most directly, the most harmfully and the most immediately.”
