Protecting and Preserving US Data Infrastructure for Economic Research

The U.S. data infrastructure that supports economic and social research is at risk. ICPSR proposes to undertake three types of activities to protect and preserve the existing data infrastructure: 1) continue and expand the functioning of DataLumos, its repository for at-risk data, 2) coordinate activities of organizations engaged in data rescue, and 3) engage in outreach to the economics research community to identify at-risk publicly available regulatory and administrative data so that they can be preserved and disseminated to the research community.
