Our proposal addresses American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) youth suicide, an urgent health inequity that is difficult to address in underserved rural and remote AIAN communities. We test a promising translational intervention that leverages strong social networks in rural AN communities to increase uptake of evidence-based and culturally responsive suicide prevention strategies. Our goal is to reduce the risk of suicide and promote safety and mental health of young people in AIAN communities. This kind of evidence-informed, community-led intervention has potential to scale to other AIAN and underserved communities to address the growing crisis of youth suicide.
