This project takes the PC CARES model, which has been successfully implemented in rural and remote Alaska Native communities with extremely promising results**, and offers it to key stakeholders across the state. These intentions are aligned with our goals and guiding principles that balance scientific integrity and local control, and will help expand our reach in order to prevent youth suicide in Alaska. Our approach is an effective community engagement model that builds on scientific information and local, cultural knowledges. We are committed to the Alaska Suicide Prevention Plan and the goals of the Strengthening Pathways to Care for Alaskas Youth project, outlined below. Goal 2: Support and expand tribally led efforts to enhance community wellness and to intervene in a culturally responsive manner with those at risk of suicide. Objective 2d: Promoting Community Conversations about Research to End Suicide (PC CARES) will present at the SSPC Summit in 2023 and utilize their tribally grounded suicide prevention training framework to empower participants to lead PC CARES Learning Circles within their own communities. Goal 4: Improve the capacity of school clinical staff to engage youth and families in discussions of lethal means safety for youth with identified suicide risk Objective 4a: PC CARES will advance the use of tribally grounded resources in schools by partnering with the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) to provide regionally based and tribally-informed lethal means
