The primary goal of this project is to spur the production of high quality, empirically based research on the effects of a liberal arts education using the College and Beyond II data series. ICPSR will work closely with the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) to provide incentives for researchers to make use of the College & Beyond II dataset and to offer data training and user support towards that aim. Specifically, ICPSR will work with ACLS to define and articulate the criteria that will be used in the call for applications (and later used to direct the peer reviewers) that selects the fellowship recipients, plan and administer a two-day in-person Data Training workshop in Ann Arbor for fellowship recipients, provide on-going user guidance and support in proper use of the data infrastructure, and participate in the Spring 2025 Symposium that widely shares the findings gained from the College and Beyond II data.
