This project pilots assisting under-resourced institutions and faculty in applying for federally funded research grants for social science research and in managing those grants if they are awarded. The pilot involves intricate and deep collaborations between faculty at three MSIs and the University of Michigan’s (UM) Institute for Social Research (ISR), and involves active research engagement with faculty at MSIs that will allow for learning from the actual experiences of collaborations and of faculty at those MSIs. The proposed project builds a set of research collaborations within political science. This project blends advances in basic research and capacity building for future progress in research. There will be three teams, each of which will comprise both research and administrative personnel.
