Dr. Leonard will guide efforts to code and classify causes of death in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules during the first three years of the project, working with project personnel at the University of Minnesota. She will travel to the Minnesota Population Center once per year to meet with project personnel. Dr. Leonard has twenty-years of experience working with historical death records in the US.
