Carina Gronlund is an environmental epidemiologist and research associate professor at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research and the School of Public Health. With community and government partners, she characterizes how social, economic, health, and built environment characteristics affect vulnerability to extreme heat, extreme precipitation, flooding, wildfire smoke, and pollen. She also assesses interventions to reduce exposure to these natural hazards. This research  helps communities adapt to heat, heat waves, higher pollen levels, wildfire smoke, and heavy rainfall.
