Impact of internal health locus of control on health outcomes for older men and women: a longitudinal perspective

A survey of 356 elderly people was conducted to determine the link between their baseline internal health locus of control (IHLC) and alterations in physical actions over a period of six years. IHLC is related to alterations in the physical activities of women at every stage of baseline functioning, but affects only men with decreased baseline functioning. IHLC is not associated with health seeking functions with the exception of altered food habits among the sick.
